Armature coils are stationary and rotating magnetic flux associated with the rotor induces electricity in the armature coils. Rotor coils are excited with a DC power source. The rotor is made to rotate by a prime mover. This makes the rotor flux also rotate along with it, at the same speed. Such revolving magnetic flux now intersects the armature coils, which is fitted around the rotor. This is known as motoring action. If the direction of current in the wire is reversed, the direction of rotation also reverses. When magnetic field and electric field interact they produce a mechanical force, and based on that the working principle of DC motor is established. The direction of rotation of a this motor is given by Fleming’s left hand rule, which states that if the index finger, middle finger and thumb of your left hand are extended mutually perpendicular to each other and if the index finger represents the direction of magnetic field, middle finger indicates the direction of current, then the thumb represents the direction in which force is experienced by the shaft of the DC motor. Structurally and construction wise a direct current motor is exactly similar to a DC generator, but electrically it is just the opposite. RCD (Residual Current Device), or residual-current circuit breaker (RCBO), is a device that instantly breaks an electric circuit to prevent serious harm from an ongoing electric shock. What does an RCD (Residual Current Device) do - An RCD is a sensitive safety device that switches off electricity automatically if there is a fault. An RCD is designed to protect against the risks of electrocution and fire caused by earth faults. For example, if you cut through the cable when mowing the lawn and accidentally touched the exposed live wires or a faulty appliance overheats causing electric current to flow to earth. How Does RCD (Residual Current Device) works - These electrical wiring devices are designed to quickly and automatically disconnect a circuit when it detects that the electric current is not balanced between the energized (line) conductor(s) and the return (neutral) conductor. Under normal circumstances, these two wires are expected to carry matching currents, and any difference can indicate a short circuit or other electrical anomaly is present, such as leakage. Leakage can indicate a shock hazard (or shock in progress) which is a potential danger to a person. Current leakage can result in harm or death due to electric shock, especially if the leaking electric current passes through the torso of a human. A current of around 30 mA (0.030 amperes) is potentially sufficient to cause cardiac arrest or serious harm if it persists for more than a small fraction of a second. RCDs are designed to disconnect the conducting wires quickly enough to prevent serious injury from such shocks, commonly described as the RCD being "tripped". Disadvantages of RCD (Residual Current Device) - RCD does not provide protection against unexpected or dangerously high current (called spikes or surges) when current is flowing in the usual wires in the circuit, therefore it cannot replace a fuse or protect against overheating or fire risk due to overcurrent (overload) or short circuits if the fault does not lead to current leakage. RCD (Residual Current Device) worldwide - In the United States and Canada, the device is more commonly known as a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI), ground fault interrupter (GFI) or an appliance leakage current interrupter (ALCI). In the United Kingdom, these are better known by their initials RCD, and a combined RCD+MCB (miniature circuit breaker) is known as a RCBO (residual-current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection). In Australia, they are sometimes known as safety switches or an RCD. An earth leakage circuit breaker (ELCB) may be a residual-current device, although an older type of voltage-operated earth leakage circuit breaker also exists. HOW DOES CIRCUIT BREAKER WORK: Under overload condition, the current through the bimetal strip causes to raise the temperature of it. The heat generated within the bimetal itself enough to cause deflection due to thermal expansion of metals. This deflection further releases the trip operator ON/OFF and hence contacts get separated. In V-I characteristics of pn junction diode is two operating regions and three possible “biasing” conditions for the standard Junction Diode and these are: 1. Zero Bias – No external voltage potential is applied to the PN junction diode. 2. Reverse Bias – The voltage potential is connected negative, (-ve) to the P-type material and positive, (+ve) to the N-type material across the diode which has the effect of Increasing the PN junction diode’s width. 3. Forward Bias – The voltage potential is connected positive, (+ve) to the P-type material and negative, (-ve) to the N-type material across the diode which has the effect of Decreasing the PN junction diodes width. Forward Biasing Characteristic of Diode When, P terminal is more positive as compared to N terminal i.e. P- terminal connected to positive terminal of battery and N-terminal connected to negative terminal of battery, it is said to be forward biased. forward biasing diode Positive terminal of the battery repels majority carriers, holes, in P-region and negative terminal repels electrons in the N-region and push them towards the junction. This result in increase in concentration of charge carriers near junction, recombination takes place and width of depletion region decreases. As forward bias voltage is raised depletion region continues to reduce in width, and more and more carriers recombine. This results in exponential rise of current. In reverse biasing Characteristic of Diode P- terminal is connected to negative terminal of the battery and N- terminal to positive terminal of battery. Thus applied voltage makes N-side more positive than P-side. reverse biasing diode Negative terminal of the battery attracts majority carriers, holes, in P-region and positive terminal attracts electrons in the N-region and pull them away from the junction. This result in decrease in concentration of charge carriers near junction and width of depletion region increases. A small amount of current flow due to minority carriers, called as reverse bias current or leakage current. As reverse bias voltage is raised depletion region continues to increase in width and no current flows. It can be concluded that diode acts only when forward biased. Avalanche Breakdown(for V upper then 5V) Under very high reverse bias voltage kinetic energy of minority carriers become so large that they knock out electrons from covalent bonds, which in turn knock more electrons and this cycle continues until and unless junction breakdowns. Zener Effect (for V lower then5V) Under reverse bias voltage junction barrier tends to increase with increase in bias voltage. This results in very high static electric field at the junction. This static electric field breaks covalent bond and set minority carriers free which contributes to reverse current. From Solar energy through solar panel and solar cell towards home applications powering http://www.chrvojeengineering.com/post_type=emd_video&p=282&preview=true Solar Energy (00:08) Solar energy is the most abundant permanent energy resource on earth and it is available for use in its direct (solar radiation) and indirect forms (wind, biomass, hydro, ocean etc.) The sun emits energy at a rate of 380 sextilion kW every second Photoelectric Effect (01:53) When sun or light shines, it emits particles call photons, this photons are massless, and if photons hits one of the electrons, and if photon has enough energy, it can free the electron, as a matter fact it will knock it loose electron from outer orbit of silicon atom with some velocity and in some direction. This electron become negatively charged free electron called photon electron. In electronic sheath of silicon atom a hole emerges, and whole atom of silicon become postively charged, because, after photon hits electron, in atom, we have 14 protons and 13 electrons, with simply math there is more protons who are positevly charged. Solar Cell (04:59) Solar cell is constructed from this parts N-layer, P-layer, Metallic conductors, Module encapsulate, glass cover, Back Sheet. Role of Solar cell is to produce electric current from solar energy. N-layer (06:21) In a process called "doping", impurity atoms are placed in very pure silicon to change the electrical characteristics of the crystal. Phosphorus can replace some of the silicon atoms in the crystal and when this happens the phosphorus atom is called a dopant atom. P-layer (07:35) Boron, with five protons and five electrons, can also substitute in a silicon crystal where a silicon atom would normally reside. Because a boron atom has only three electrons available in its bonding shell, only three covalent bonds can be formed between a boron atom and the silicon atoms in a crystal. P-N Junction (10:27) P-N Junction or depletion region is made when N-layer and P-layer connect together, and when electrons try to fill holes in entire volume. What is Inductor - An inductor is a passive electronic component that storesenergy in the form of a magnetic field. In its simplest form, an inductor consists vof a wire loop or coil. The inductance is directly proportional to the number of turns in the coil. Inductance also depends on the radius of the coil and on the type of material around which the coil is wound. Definition of Inductance If a changing flux is linked with a coil of a conductor there would be an emf induced in it. The property of the coil of inducing EMF due to the changing flux linked with it is known as inductance of the coil. Due to this property all electrical coil can be referred as inductor. In other way, an inductor can be defined as an energy storage device which stores energy in form of magnetic field. How Does An Inductor Work? A current through any wire will create a magnetic field. The inductor is a wire shaped so that the magnetic field will be much stronger. Schematic symbol of an inductor you will see in video The reason an inductor works the way it does is because of this magnetic field. This field does some magic physics stuff that resists alternating currents. Inductors are mostly used for Filters and oscillators. When the current flowing through an inductor changes, the time-varying magnetic field induces a voltage in the conductor, according to Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction. According to Lenz's law the direction of induced electromotive force (or "e.m.f.") is always such that it opposes the change in current that created it. The microorganisms need a steady supply of feedstock and a comfortable environment - warm temperatures, neutral acidity and no oxygen. Biogas is the gas produced when bacteria break down organic matter in the absence of oxygen. It is made up of mainly methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2), with small amounts of water vapor, particulates, and other gasses, such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Actually, hydroelectric and coal-fired power plants produce electricity in a similar way. In both cases a power source is used to turn a propeller-like piece called a turbine, which then turns a metal shaft in an electric generator, which is the motor that produces electricity. A coal-fired power plant uses steam to turn the turbine blades; whereas a hydroelectric plant uses falling water to turn the turbine. The results are the same. The theory is to build a dam on a large river that has a large drop in elevation . The dam stores lots of water behind it in the reservoir. Near the bottom of the dam wall there is the water intake. Gravity causes it to fall through the penstock inside the dam. At the end of the penstock there is a turbine propeller, which is turned by the moving water. The shaft from the turbine goes up into the generator, which produces the power. Power lines are connected to the generator that carry electricity to your home and mine. The water continues past the propeller through the tailrace into the river past the dam. Diode definition is that diodes are semiconductor elements and are part of almost every electronic circuit. The main characteristic of a diode is that allows the current flow in one direction only, so they act as a valve and are used to convert AC into DC. Symbol of Diode - The symbol of a diode is shown in video How does a diode work - Diode working principle is that a diode allows current to flow only when + terminal of DC voltage source is connected to anode and - terminal is connected to cathode and in that case diode is FORWARD BIASED or OPEN. If voltage source is connected in opposite direction diode do not allow current to flow and diode is REVERSE BIASED or CLOSED what is a diode made of - Diodes are made of materials called semiconductors such as Silicon and Germanium. Silicon has a crystalline structure. It has four vallence electrons forming vallence bonds. Atoms share these electrons and they are in vallence band and can not move free into the cristal. That is pure or intrinsic silicon. Adding impurities changes conductive properties of silicon. This process is called doping. There are two types of impurities: - Donors - have 5 electrons in outer shell (Phosphorus, Arsenic, Antimony, Bismuth, Lithium) - Acceptors - have 3 electrons in outer shell (Boron, Aluminium, Nitrogen, Gallium, Indium) 2 types of semiconductors: N-type: c with donors there are extra electrons that can move around. P-type: Doping with acceptors electron is missing in vallence shell, we can observe as positivly charged hole. PN Junction diode - PN Junction is formed when P-type and N-type semiconductors are put togather phisicaly. There is a diffusion of electrons from N-type to P-type side of the junction. This creates positively charged region at N-type side and negatively charged region at P-type side. - When PN Junction is connected to voltage source (battery) there are two different situations: 1. N-type region (cathode) connected to negative pole of battery and P-type region (anode) connected to positive pole. 2. N-type region (cathode) connected to positive pole of battery and P-type region (anode) connected to negative pole. This situation is driving me crazy. Process of how to fix when volume/speake icon is dissapeared from taskbar or getting back your volume icon is not very complicated, so you can finde soultion in his video. In video I have put two solution, because many time with first soution it doesnt want to bring back volume/speaker icon to taskbar so I finde and fix and this situation.. Each cell is made up of a set of positive and negative plates immersed in a dilute sulfuric acid solution known as electrolyte, and each cell has a voltage of around 2.1 volts when fully charged. The six cells are connected together to produce a fully charged battery of about 12.6 volts. Let me give you the big picture first for those who aren't very detail oriented. Basically, when a battery is being discharged, the sulfuric acid in the electrolyte is being depleted so that the electrolyte more closely resembles water. At the same time, sulfate from the acid is coating the plates and reducing the surface area over which the chemical reaction can take place. Charging reverses the process, driving the sulfate back into the acid. The electrolyte (sulfuric acid and water) contains charged ions of sulfate and hydrogen. The sulfate ions are negatively charged, and the hydrogen ions have a positive charge. Here’s what happens when you turn on a load (headlight, starter, etc). The sulfate ions move to the negative plates and give up their negative charge. The remaining sulfate combines with the active material on the plates to form lead sulfate. This reduces the strength of the electrolyte, and the sulfate on the plates acts as an electrical insulator. The excess electrons flow out the negative side of the battery, through the electrical device, and back to the positive side of the battery. At the positive battery terminal, the electrons rush back in and are accepted by the positive plates. Zener Diode is the simplest types of voltage regulator and the point at which a zener diode breaks down or conducts is called the “Zener Voltage” ( Vz ). I-V characteristics of zener diode make it suitable for application such as a voltage regulator. Zener diode is parallel with a variable load resistance R. How does Zener Diod work as voltage regulator - Zener diode is like a general-purpose signal diode consisting of a silicon PN junction. When biased in the forward direction (forward biased) it behaves just like a normal signal diode passing the rated current, but as soon as a reverse voltage applied across the zener diode exceeds the rated voltage of the device, the diodes breakdown voltage is reached at which point a process called Avalanche Breakdown occurs in the semiconductor depletion layer and a current starts to flow through the diode to limit this increase in voltage. The current now flowing through the zener diode increases dramatically to the maximum circuit value (which is usually limited by a series resistor) and once achieved this reverse saturation current remains fairly constant over a wide range of applied voltages. Main parts of nuclear power plant As you can see the nuclear power plant consist of two main buildings: • Containment building (houses Nuclear Reactor) • Turbine building (houses Turbo Generator) The containment building is the key building of the nuclear island. It is an air-tight building, which houses a nuclear reactor and its pressurizer, reactor coolant pumps, steam generators, and other equipment or piping that might otherwise release fission products to the atmosphere in the event of an accident. Such buildings are usually made of steel-reinforced concrete. The turbine building is the key building of the conventional (turbine) island. The turbine building houses a turbine, generator, condenser and other equipment, which is used for conversion thermal energy from pressurized steam to mechanical work used for drive the generator. Also a cooling tower can be part of the nuclear power plant, but it is not necessary. Many nuclear power plants (coastal nuclear power plants) do not cool the cooling water via cooling towers. Nuclear reactors operate on the principle of nuclear fission, the process in which a heavy atomic nucleus splits into two smaller fragments. The nuclear fragments are in very excited states and emit neutrons, other subatomic particles, and photons. The emitted neutrons may then cause new fissions, which in turn yield more neutrons, and so forth. Such a continuous self-sustaining series of fissions constitutes a fission chain reaction. A large amount of energy is released in this process, and this energy is the basis of nuclear power systems. How to control fission of uranium – 235 Slow neutrons strike nuclei of uranium-235, causing the nuclei to fission, or split, and release fast neutrons. The fast neutrons are absorbed or slowed by the nuclei of a graphite moderator (control rodes), which allows just enough slow neutrons to continue the fission chain reaction at a constant rate. There are a large number of ways in which a nuclear reactor may be designed and constructed; many types have been experimentally realized. Over the years, nuclear engineers have developed reactors with solid and liquid fuels, thick- and no-reflectors, forced cooling circuits and natural conduction or convection heat-removal systems, and so on.
