Man we're in the same page, I love zelda even though my friends didn't like it, so I have to play it by myself and I thank them cause that's how it's supposed to be played.

Another Aussie here. My first Zelda game was Minish Cap. My brother bought a copy but ignored it because he was playing something else and I got really into it. And of course because his older sister thought it was fun, he wanted it back. After a pretty noisy argument, we were back at Myer the next day so I could use my Christmas money to buy my own copy. I was also bullied a lot so games and books were a safe haven. Zelda is good at taking you away from bad things and into something wonderful.

I never really got into Zelda I played twilight princess and windwaker when I was like 12 but some of the puzzles were to challenging and I stopped playing it, I really wanna get majoras mask for my 64 cuz its the most interesting game imo and I wanna get breath of the wild but BOTW but it’s really expensive and I don’t know if I’ll like it.

Honestly the reason I love Zelda is pretty much the same reason you did, I was a kid that didn't go out much and so I would play Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks to escape from the pretty depressing life I was living. Sure I had Pokemon (which don't get me wrong, I loved it too) but for some reason I come back to Zelda because it felt like an adventure to me when I never saw my life being like an adventure. My DS was like one of my only friends back then and I still hold PH and ST really close to my heart because of that. Thanks for the great video. Keep up the good content!

I've been playing zelda games since I was around 5, and I've always loved them, but I fell even more in love with them a few years ago when I was in hospital and when I was diagnosed with autism. I loved exploring hyrule and it really took my mind off things, so I can relate to you there lol.

Twilight Princess was my first Zelda game and is my favorite game of all time. I actually could never get into Ocarina of Time. I think it was partly because of the graphics. My first console was GameCube so N64 graphics looked so archaic to me.

I started playing Zelda OOT when I was quite young. For me it was a way to escape the every day abuse and violence in my life. Though, not even gaming was safe. Sometimes my pops would take my n64, or turn of the power, or stuff like that. He sold/threw my original n64 and my original old games. Which today would have a good value. I had to rebuy some of my collection and got my beloved OOT back again. My siblings probably had it worse as most of the times my pops turned of the power, was to attack them. They had ps1, so I was like hiding in my room to game my n64 (which was a Christmas gift with OOT). I am glad I had that. Screaming and violence. Yeah... not a good time. Zelda was the only thing that saved me.

This vid is great, had a similar experience to zelda but starting with alttp. The childhood story at the breaks my heart, I'm glad you found zelda and video games in times of need. I also think I ruined my love for breath of the wild by taking a long weekend off from work and spending 16 hours or so while the wife was at work just locked with the switch, I now put it on and I'm like meh... and I can relate with twilight princess if finished it twice, once on Wii and the hd remake, I probably would have loved it on gamecube the Wiimote on that one didn't do it justice

Zelda for me will always be that series that I first truly connected with as a kid.. Mario 64 was great but there was just something about Ocarina of Time that hooked me and my love for the series has grown ever since.

A little late to the comments here, but I’ve never met someone who loves Zelda as much as I do. Wind Waker was my first and I played it at my cousins for the first time and did so many chores to save up to buy it for myself and I’ve been obsessed ever since. I’ve bought every main title and any Knick knacks I could lol thank you for making this video.

For me my first experince with legend of zelda was phantom hourglass, in the uk the N64 was destroyed by ps1 in my local area to the point I had no clue who mario was untill 2003 when I got the gamecube, I still hadn't heard of zelda though untill I saw my friend playing windwaker at his house in 2006 and I loved the artstyle, so I bought phantom hourglass in 2007, loved it then played oot on an emulator in 2009 didn't love it XD, But Zelda has rapidly become one of my favourite franchises.

Relatable 100%. I started with Link to the past, and honestly I replay it at least once a year when depression kicks in. I find myself singing (shouting) along to the themes while playing. Heck I sing those songs while exploring the BOTW's hyrule. Here's your like and your sub. Awesome content

aand after almost a year i come back to this video to say... even If i didnt grow up in hyrule, even if breath of the wild was my very first zelda game, after completing everything there is to do in there, after watching a tone of related videos about legend of zelda, from amv, to animations, to reviews, to zeldie here, I am so in love with this franchise I just wanna buy everything there is about it, but unfortunately i dont have the money to get the other consoles so i am simply looking forward to any new zelda related game nintendo has to offer, and i HOPE they port as many of the big names as possible, because these games seem awesome! I cant wait for hyrule warriors in a few days!!

I've just recently got into your vids but this for sure really touches me. I grew up the same way being forced to stay home. I wasn't allowed to even be out front of the house or to have friends. All I had was my brothers N64. Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask really helped me through my childhood and helped me forget the bad stuff. I know this is a late comment but it helps to know that there is someone else that relates because a lot of people didn't. I've battled depression and anxiety my whole life. Video games truely help me. Thank you for this vid. You're awesome!!

You have a fan here in the Philippines! It's what Zelda: Link to the Past on GBA did to me when I was 15! That's also the reason why I'm still an avid fan of Zelda and videogames in general.

My story is very similar to yours in the fact that I went from NES to 64 with a minor PS1 era in between. I got my 64 when I was 13 on Christmas day 1999. And of course the one game I got with it was Ocarina of Time. I'm not exaggerating when I say I didn't play another game for atleast a year and thus began my deep rooted love for the series. I had played and loved Link to the Past but Ocarina is the game I credit for shaping my passion for the series and gaming overall. Great stuff here man, keep up the great work!

I think the reason your my favourite youtuber is videos like this. I have suffered from depression since i was 11 and now though I am 30 i would like to say it didn't impact me but it does. And its so hard having a wife and a kid and feeling that way still because at this stage in my life I know i don't really have a reason to feel that way. My childhood also wasn't great shall we say. So seeing you able to make the life you want. Knowing I have done the same it's just fills my heart with hope for every kid out there in a similar place. I also used Zelda to escape and ocarina of time. That moment I pulled the master sword and realised that i hadn't even scratched the surface of this game. I will never forget. Keep up the good work. I appreciate your honesty.

That sounds a loooot like my family. I'm the youngest and wasn't really allowed anywhere besides my parent's house, and no one was really allowed at mine either. The first game I got was Pokemon Green, followed by Spyro for the PS. Then I was allowed to stay at my friend's one night, where I played Majora's Mask (I was quite young though, so I didn't really get very far). I begged my dad to buy me Zelda, but since I didn't know much about games (I was young, born in Dec of 92) so when I told the person at Blockbuster that I wanted Zelda, he gave me OoT. I was so confused, I remember starting it up and looking at each of the houses in OoT and thinking "so are each of the houses like an individual dungeon or something?" Of course, this was wrong and I ended up falling in love with OoT, but it wasn't the game I wanted. If found out it was MM, and dragged my dad back to the game shop, where we found out MM required the expansion. It'd been a bit since MM was released, so it wasn't as expensive as it could have been sure, but it ended up costing about $50.00 USD for the game + memory expansion. And I was *terrible* at the game. Just horrific. But what makes it my favourite is how much it scared me. It made me think about how that moon was going to fall and kill everyone, and if I wasn't careful, everyone was going to die- that was a lot for a 9 year old! And the time limit, I remember struggling to complete the first dungeon in the 3 days, which is nonsense to me now, since you can finish in one without even speed running. Then two years later I saw my first Zelda commercial for Wind Waker, sitting the the cinema with my mother and then begging my dad to get my aunty to send a console from Japan so I could play it as soon as it came out, arguing that since it's release date would be 3 days after my birthday (12/10) that it was obviously meant to be and needed to be a birthday/Christmas present. When Link's sister got kidnapped, I remember feeling so angry and dedicated to getting her back, it was so emotional. And then the first time you can return to Outset, feeling like I really had been away from home for so long. Of course I've played the others, but those were the main ones I'd played when I was young (the bigger ones, I also played the originals, ages/seasons, LttP, four swords, minish, Link between worlds, that one with the dreaming fish- with ages, followed by seasons, being my favourite) but out of them, my top 5 (least to most) would be BotW, WW, TP, MM, and SS. I'm a big story person so BotW really fell short for me (BoTW and LBW alike), so I'm just going to count it as a learning experience and not as a legit game for me. Maybe it's because I'm so used to the amazing stories and dungeons, that the lack of both of those things was just too much, but... Oh well. I'm hoping Nintendo grows their ideas and learns to execute them better, so that the next game will be amazing; Zelda's really the only game series I buy anymore, so I'm going to be hopeful for the future of the company. Cheers🍺

Been seeing your videos for sometime now (great channel and personality btw) but I usually don't subscribe to any youtuber, but with this video I felt SO identified, every word, context and experience was so similar...that said, you sir, deserve your honest subscribe! Keep up with your content (huuuge fan of "Switch games I recommend" or that surprised you jajaja) and lots of encouragement for you from a fan from Colombia!! (P.S This was the first time ever I wrote a comment on YouTube, your story really got me!)

I'm not a big YouTube Guy but that Story. I have not played game's in year's. But BOTW came out and I bought a Switch. But Now 8 month's latter I'm done with it. What Do I do? I tried other game's. There is no other game like it. Don't bash me but this was my first comment and like in YouTube. I couldn't help my self.

I was 8 years old when I beat OoT in 1998 by myself. Didn´t even understand hardly any English at the time, but me and a bunch of other kids my age got through the game just fine anyway. At age 10, in 2000, I was able to read and comprehend English fluently (thanks in no small part to video games), and I got through MM just fine too. No guides or anything consulted for aid. As you said, Zelda games always deliver the magic. I will love tLoZ forever. These days I even read Japanese, which I taught myself over the course of several years in order to be even closer to all the Japanese games that I love.
