Commonwealth Realm this story has a Dubble meaning it is like this before skyward sowerd there was the Orginal Link Hylias chosen Hero after Demise Killed him Hylia Cried just like this and said the same words that Zelda in this video said and Hylia said to her Orginal Chosen Hero that she would preserve his bloodline the bloodline of the Knights of Hyrule

The 2 'sheikah warriors' who saved link by bringing him to the shrine of resurrection are, in fact, the 2 sheikah in Hateno Village in the ancient tech lab

The thing that pissed me off about this game was that they gave Zelda tons of power in this one and the fact that there was no Ganondorf. I was really expecting Ganondorf to come out of that egg sac thing, but no they give Zelda the power to hold the beast thing for 100 years. I don't know the game was great I just wish they did more with the ending it felt unfinished................ oh yeah they didn't put a F******* HAMMER/HOOKSHOT/CLAWSHOT IN THE GAME!

At the end zelda says that they need to rebuild hyrule, what if the dlc will make it so after you beat ganon, the world will change and you will meet up with zelda at different places and stuff to rebuild hyrule (nintendo will probably be able to find a replacement for the blood moon about enemy respawning)
Tranquil Serenity (1 year ago)
My friends and I recently beat the game and the story. We were talking about Zelda's character in this game. Every other Zelda, aside from Skyward Sword, didn't have a story or any reason to like her. In Skyward Sword, Link and Zelda are best friends, so there's a reason to care about her, and she was the reborn Hylia. Because of that, we are able to see her grow as a character. But in twilight princess, for example, the only thing she did that would make you interested in her was that she saved Midna from dying. And even then we really didn't know who she was. She was just 'The Princess of Hyrule'. Yes, she was Link's friend in other games, like The Minish Cap, for example, but even then she really didn't have a character. She was just a cutsie, moe blob. In Wind Waker she was Tetra, a spunky pirate. I liked Tetra, as a stand alone character, but when she was Zelda, I hated it. She completely changed her personality. Tetra was pessimistic, and Zelda was optimistic in the two games that followed WW. It just didn't work with her character. Remember when she found out she was Zelda in the Wind Waker, she just stood there, taking in the details. Then, she turned around at link, and just stayed in the Master Sword's chamber. That was it. She was confused, I know, but it seems like tetra probably would've thrown a fit or something. This Zelda was finally given a story. She went through hardships, she was frustrated, confused, and lost, yet she stayed calm when she could. Her father forced her to drop her hobbies and only try to awaken her power so Hyrule could be saved. And because of that, it was even harder for her to find her magic. She didn't want to fail anyone, yet she knew she most likely would. No other Zelda, to me, went through real hardships like BotW's did.

Breath of the Wild is like a slow-burn pain for me. The endings of OoT, WW, and TP all hit me right in the feels in the most painful way possible, but BoTW pain sinks into me one degree at a time. I think I'm fine and then I put it all together and suddenly everything hurts. Having watched this video, I will now go curl up somewhere and contemplate why I keep giving money to a company so bent on my suffering.

Does anyone else not like Calamity Ganon as the final boss? He has no dialogue or personality other than being evil incarnate. He's just not interesting.
Brandon Petruska (1 year ago)
Not gonna lie.... I wasn't the biggest fan of this version of Zelda at first. But after I unlocked all of the memories and realized this girl, who is really just a science nerd, has sacrificed one hundred years, her childhood and even normalcy, just so keep Ganon at bay in the hopes Link returns....wow. So glad the ending implies she is Queen Zelda and can't wait for the new story mode DLC.
Micah Vincent (1 year ago)
I have yet to play the game, but I do have one question how old is Zelda? is this she and do the hylians live for hundreds of years, or is the Zelda that creates the seal and the Zelda that you meet in game 2 different people (assuming you do meet her after Link wakes up)

what does the number mean next to the shield? hylian shield says 90.
Nyxael's Hub (1 year ago)
John Doe Royal Guard class weapons have very low durability. The shield has a durability of 14 against most attacks. The number next to a shield is the max amount of parry damage and strength a shield can have. The Hylian Shield on the other hand has an incredibly high amount of durability (800 durability) and has an incredible amount of strength so it will take forever before the shield breaks.

GREAT EPISODE COMMONWEALTH!!! :D Anyways I'd like to see champions of hyrule and their back stories please!
Dampf (1 year ago)
The story itself is pretty deep and sad. The problem with it is, however, that nearly everything of the story is told through optional cutscenes. I think the story would be way more impactful, if you could play segments of the past similar to how Witcher 3 handled the beginning with Ciri. That would make people appreciate the story way more. Also, its missing of a big twist, there isn't even one twist like in past Zelda games, where everything changes after you got a certain amount of dungeons done.. These are the reasons why everyone complains about the story and I get the complain.
Guardian (1 year ago)
Do you think if Zelda was allowed to study and help with the Divine Beasts/Guardians she could have stopped Ganon from controlling them?

One of the things I found most interesting about this iteration of Zelda is just how much she actually loves Link. We've never had a Zelda game that explicitly states this, especially to the point where Zelda is unable to awaken the Triforce until Link, and only Link, is in mortal danger. Regardless of the lack of character development of the side characters, the fragmented narrative did an excellent job of making a believable bond between Link and Zelda, never making me doubt for a second that Zelda would endure 100 years of battle against a demon king just to be face to face with her knight once more to say that she loves him.
Mason Stephens (1 year ago)
Skyward Sword she slept for thousands of years for Link, they were childhood friends in that game.

Still dont get how Zelda is still looking like a 17 year old woman after 100 years. Unlike Link she has NOT been sleeping.
appleinformation (1 year ago)
@Boshwa: Explains the entire Zelda franchise pretty much, so I'm unsure of your point. You seal away a magical dark force with a magical darkness-sealing sword.
appleinformation (1 year ago)
Totally sounds like a good theory until you realize that Purah's anti-aging rune actually had many defects such as turning her into a 6 year old. Besides that, she developed it nearly 40 years after Zelda started to seal away the Calamity. Besides that, Zelda gave the Sheikah Slate to link when he was sent to the Shrine of Resurrection. Besides that, the Shrine of Resurrection is what kept Link's young Hylian body from aging.
Miguel Pena (1 year ago)
Purah invented a antiaging rune for the sheikah slate. It is stated in her journal that it was used on link and zelda.
Boshwa (1 year ago)
Magic *There you go*
The Eccentric One (1 year ago)
Favna she learned power of stasis? idk... Link was under long-term stasis in the shrine of resurrection (it said in Zelda's research journal) she had to learn how to keep herself alive so that she could fight Calamity Ganon so... something. :/
Kyranio (1 year ago)
I really want a prequel for this game. I would love to actually play the things that happened before the great calamity, I would love to get to know the champions better... Yeah I would love it, just to get to know the story better.
appleinformation (1 year ago)
So true. Sadly I'm unsure if this is what they are including with the "New Original Story" or if it's something post-calamity or just an entire different game just using the same game (world, engine, etc.)

when was Zelda ever a "whiney princess"? I always found her characters strong. I can't wait for the new timeline video. This channel has gotten so pro.
ReachStudioPro (1 year ago)
Yes exactly. I guess the only time you can call her "whiney" is when she tries to do something else like figuring out the advanced sheikah technology with her time other than pray and work to stop Calamity Ganon, but is constantly stopped by her father. That is literally the only "whiney" thing I can think of and those parts are not even bad in the first place. People clearly don't have a sense of understanding.
Jacky Sakura (1 year ago)
Botw Zelda is the most developed Zelda.A lot of people just complain about Zelda in botw is that she's emotional and whinny because her voice and it kinda upsets me because this girl went through a lot in this game and things people can relate too.She pulled it off through all the tragedies and still manage to have hope and determination.
Ash Ketchum (1 year ago)
Flower jack imo the german voice actor has done an absolutly fantastic job and the voice fitted so well that I never thought anything else than a strong Princess with a tragic past. The voice actor really determines how you see a charactor! So I'm glad that at least in my language the voice actor is great! Sorry english speaking people:'|
Commonwealth Realm (1 year ago)
They should have gone for a different voice to fit her character.
I like Jason and Leo very much. Those two are professionals. With Jason and Leo on the scene, I'm always feeling as if I'm watching a serious Zelda documentary. Never gets old! Great work, Jason and Leo! Also, I choose the Champions of Hyrule.

Tyler Charles, thank you for updating me. I have not read his diary, and I am glad he realized his harshness. To be a bit rude and sticking to my point, I think his realization was a bit late. Some people are saying Breath of the Wild doesn't have story. They seriously need to get all the memories and put the story together...or watch this video.
Truth Defined (1 year ago)
It doesn't have much story there. BOTW didn't do anything to advance the overall story of the game or answer long lived questions of the past. It was set so far apart in time from any other story in the series that it may as well be its own story not linked to anything else.
Buibuiopolis Mayor (1 year ago)
Agree completely! This Story is very unique because it isn't supposed to be long and detailed. This is Link's POV, he doesn't remember a thing and 100 years have passed most hylians are dead. There are small reminders amongst NPCs all the time. And this is what is really unique about BOTW. It's a living story, told amongst people who are still alive and perhaps may not remember the details clearly, like real history. We only have snippets, can't get more realistic than that.
Brandon Petruska (1 year ago)
ReachStudioPro if you don't get all the memories, the ending is when Zelda and Link are standing in front of the castle and the king and champions ghosts watch over them. It stops there.
ReachStudioPro (1 year ago)
+Brandon Petruska I unlocked all memories before finishing the game so I don't know how it looks when you don't. I must say that the ending in Breath of the Wild is HUGE!! It's something that has never happened in a Zelda game before and that ending has opened up so much possibilities for future games in that timeline.
Brandon Petruska (1 year ago)
Giraffasaur I loved the story. And the ending is a thousand times better if you've unlocked all the memories. It is left completely open for the story to continue, which it will later in the year with DLC :)

Champions of Hyrule, please.
Zelda's past is really sad and a connection to the hero of time like Zelda link was ridiculed by the Kokiri children for not having a fairy companion. Zelda's is the same she was forced and ridiculed by King Rhoam for not awakening the power to seal calamity ganon away. Both connections are dark and sad but Zelda I know later on succeeded thanks to link because the love she had for him helped her unleash her power but what I know she was fighting in hyrule castle for a century and deserves to be happy with link.

I feel like I'm watching a fallout history ;) I just finished the game last night and I love this version of Zelda. She is so human with her self-doubts and fears, not just a perfect Madonna (the religious term, not the singer) The memory cutscenes are really more Zelda's story than Link's as we follow her journey. I just wish we got to spend more time with her in the game. Though I have to admit, Skyward Sword still has my favourite Zelda (I hate the gameplay, but love the story) I'm a sucker for the girl next door thing she had going on and the cute little romance story she and Link had.

Dear Feminist Frequency... Is this fucking sexist?
Buibuiopolis Mayor (1 year ago)
I'm feminist in that women should have an equal chance. However, if a girl wants to be saved by a handsome lad like Link, it's her choice too and it's perfectly fine. It's ok for women to still want to be house wives and tend to their husbands and children if that's what they enjoy. But it's also important for these women to be allowed to work if it's their choice. This is what feminism is all about, not that crazy stuff about boobs, hair and looks.
Lin2Waterfall (1 year ago)
or as the Avenue Q song goes, "Everyone's a little bit Racist." :P
DasKänguru (1 year ago)
Captain Olimar I consider myself a feminist, but this is totally not sexist. This game is literally the legend of Zelda, it's the story of how she got her power, and overcoming hardships, and how she kept ganon sealed.

Question where did Ganon come from and why does he only target hyrule Edit: Thank you for telling me I am gonna play skyward then
Just-AWESOME-old-me (1 year ago)
Uhhh, to summarize what everyone has said . . . basically, once upon a time, there was a demon king named Demise. The "first" (debatable) Link defeated the demon, and before Demise died he put a curse on Link and Zelda, stating that their souls would be forced to fight an incarnation of his hate for all eternity. +madmoblin They don't need that much detail. :)
Jackimations (1 year ago)
It's a long story but, here we go: In Skyward Sword Demise, the mysterious and evil King of the Demons, attacked Hyrule in hopes of getting the Triforce, a divine relic that contains unlimited power and can grant it's user one wish. The Triforce was guarded by the Goddess Hylia, who was basicly the Zelda version of an angel and her chosen hero Link. A long war was fought and eventall Demise was sealed away, knowing Demise would return, the Goddess and was reincarnated as human named Zelda, Link was reincarnated too. The two eventally fough and defeated a reserected Demise, but in his dieing breath Demise placed a curse, in his curse an incarnation of his hatred will haunt reincarnations of Link and Zelda for the rest of time. Eventally Link and Zelda established the kingdom of Hyrule, and Zelda's descendents became the Royal Family of the Kingdom of Hyrule, and the Triforce was hidden away in a Temple, a Temple of Time. One day a man was born in the Desert, his name was Ganondorf. Ganondorf, or Ganon for short, was born as the King of the desrt people known as the Gerudo, but he still he of serve the king of Hyrule. Ganondorf's land was not fertile and the living conditons of the desert was poor, and the Hylians (the people of Hyrule) did nothing about it, Ganondorf hated them, his hatred was so strong that Demise's hatred reborn rested within him. Ganon eventally found out about the Triforce and devised a plan to steal it. Ganondorf sucsseded, and he ruled over Hyrule for seven years, but then a young boy stood up aganist him, this boy was Link, and with the help of the reborn Zelda and a group of six beings known as "The Sages", he sucesfully defeated Ganon. Generations past, Hyrule recived relative peice, but then one day Ganon returned, he was defeated again by Link and Zelda, but it happened again, and again over many generations. Each time he returned Ganon became less and less human untill he became the monstroisity you see in Breath of the Wild.

Ganon is not the only incarnation of malice and hatred... He exists and comes back again and again because of Demise's curse from Skyward Sword and targets Link more than Hyrule, IE Malladus from the Wind Waker sequels.
